THE RELATERS
A project by Armin Rangani, Shervin Azadi, & Ardalan Sadeghikivi

Received the Honorable Mention in the Outer Space 2020 Competition at Blank Space.

Relaters are projections of Prometheus into the human race's multi-planetary future, offering a visual narrative of how identity can be redefined in a primaeval setting. It manifests a creation myth that has not happened yet but explains the relationship between humans and their environment and provides an orientation that can facilitate the internal organization of a community. Relaters depict a departure from the Mothership toward an unknown planet. Shortly after landing, they cascade tales all over this new setting to stimulate the ultimate question, leading the colony to seek their creators—creators who were foretold by Relaters in their image by sacrificing a piece of themselves.

URASHIMA 3000
A project by Armin Rangani, Shervin Azadi, & Ardalan Sadeghikivi

Urashima 3000 is a surreal, futuristic narrative exploring time distortion and existential displacement. Set in a world where time flows differently in various orbits due to intense gravitational fields, the story follows Urashima, a man struggling with the passage of time and the loss of his past. The narrative unfolds in fragmented episodes blending myth, science fiction, and psychological horror. Urashima returns home after an unknown period to find everything unrecognizable, then lives with Virgil, who obsessively plays the violin to summon an enigmatic presence from a beached whale. As events escalate, Urashima violently dissects the whale, uncovering a cryptic message. Reality blurs further when he encounters a shape-shifting entity mimicking Virgil, leading to a final act of destruction—burning his home and walking into the sea with a mysterious box from a fairy, symbolizing his ultimate detachment from time and self.
